about
me
I have been involved with birth for over ten years. I have attended over
forty births in both the hospital and home setting. I received my
certification as a doula and childbirth educator from A.L.A.C.E. in 1998. I
received my birth mentoring certification from Birthing From Within in 2004.
I have worked as a certified massage therapist for ten years and
specialize in pregnancy and postpartum massage. I have two children my son
Vassar was born by cesarean birth in the hospital and my daughter Lupine was
born vaginally at home. I am very passionate about helping families
with their transition into parenthood.
My philosophy is that childbirth preparation is a process of self
discovery and birth is a spiritual and life changing experience.
My goal is to empower women to birth in awareness, and support
families in embracing the unique qualities of their birth experience.

These classes are for mothers and fathers who have been through the birth

it different this time. Review of first, second, third stage, pain coping
techniques and tools for labor. We will also cover communication skills,
sibling integration and bonding with this baby. Couples that have taken this
class comment that they like the fact that they set a side a day just to
think about this baby and this birth.
about
bodywork
Pregnancy and Postpartum Massage
Pregnancy massage is therapeutic bodywork which focuses on the special
needs of the mother-to-be as her body goes through the dramatic changes
of pregnancy, birth and postpartum. Touch is vital to the mother’s
psychological and physiological well-being as she adapts to a changing
body. Massage provides a nurturing touch which, in turn, nurtures the
life of the unborn child.
Bodywork during pregnancy can:
- provide tranquil relaxation
- relieve the stress on weight bearing joints
- alleviate neck and back pain caused by muscle imbalance and
weakness
- provide emotional support through nurturing touch
- stimulate the endocrine system, thereby stabilizing hormones
- increase muscle tone, enhancing metabolic function
- enhance the pliability of skin and underlying tissue
In my practice I recommend starting in the second trimester receiving
monthly massage, third trimester receive biweekly massage, the last month of
pregnancy receive weekly massage and at least one postpartum massage . If
you do have present issues depending on what they may be you may want more
frequent treatments.
Your body is working very hard on building a human being it needs
attention and maintenance.
